Whistleblowing Policy 2025 (Word doc 52k)
The University is committed to the highest standards of honesty, integrity, probity, and accountability. It seeks to conduct its affairs in a responsible manner, taking into account the proper use of public funds, the requirements of its funding bodies, and the standards required in public life. There is always the risk that things can go wrong or that there are issues that need to be addressed or conduct that is inappropriate or potentially illegal, and the University supports a culture of openness and accountability to help prevent such situations from occurring and address them when they do occur.
The University Executive Board and the Audit and Risk Committee, under delegated authority from the Board of Governors, have approved the University's whistleblowing policy. The purpose of this policy is:
To encourage individuals, to report suspected wrongdoing in the University at the earliest opportunity, in the knowledge that their concerns will be taken seriously and investigated as appropriate, and that their confidentiality will be respected;
To provide individuals with guidance as to how to raise those concerns and receive feedback on any action taken;
1. To ensure that you receive a response to your concerns and that you are aware of how to pursue them if you are not satisfied; and
2. To reassure individuals that they should be able to raise genuine concerns without fear of reprisals, even if they turn out to be mistaken.
This policy sits under the University’s Complaints Framework, which sets out the different ways in which staff and students can raise concerns or make complaints to the appropriate body.
